When I entered the real estate field in 1984, agents like myself were one man shows. We did it all! As we moved into the 90s, the real estate industry in our area changed. There were fewer agents, and a small percentage of agents were doing a large percentage of the total real estate transactions. The more successful agents found that they needed to build teams of people who could support them with all the behind-the-scenes work so they could do what they do best - helping people own homes and sell homes. In 1992 I added my first assistant, Jeff Roberts. Jeff is still with me today and does an excellent job of caring for my clients when I am out of the office. In 1998 I added Jim Whitnah to my team as a Buyer Specialist, and he does a great job of helping buyers find the perfect home! We would appreciate the opportunity of helping you own or sell a current property in Montgomery County. Keep in mind that if you are leaving the area or looking in DC or a surrounding county, we have contact with some excellent agents in these areas to whom we can refer you. We look forward to hearing from you soon! |

Jim Whitnah joined Tim's team in 1998 as a Buyer Specialist. Tim created the position in recognition of the need to have a staff member available to concentrate exclusively on working with buyers, one dedicated to helping them find the home which would meet their particular needs. Jim's responsibilities include client development, monitoring the market for new and existing listings which might be of interest to clients, previewing and showing houses, working with Tim on contract preparation and negotiation, and assisting in the many tasks between contract ratification and settlement. Jim attended Montgomery County schools from kindergarten through his graduation from Winston Churchill High School in 1972. He experienced the rapid lower county growth in a very unique way- he attended four elementary schools and two junior high schools despite his family never moving during those years. Jim moved to the Chicago area after high school where he attended college and grad school and began his professional career. He earned an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago and worked as the business manager and treasurer for a business communications firm. He also coached a collegiate cross country and track team for several years. He returned to Montgomery County in the early 1990s. When not working in real estate, Jim can often be found pursuing another passion - distance running. Still actively competing in local road races, he was the Montgomery County Road Runners Club's Open Runner of the Year in 1996. He recently organized and continues to direct one of MCRRC's training programs. |

Jeff Roberts has been Tim's administrative assistant since 1992. He concentrates on supporting Tim within our office. Usually Jeff takes the incoming phone calls and tries to connect the caller to Tim or takes and relays the messages. Jeff monitors the daily activity on the multiple listing service and coordinates work within the office. He oversees our data entry and mailing lists and monitors the production of our advertising. Office payroll and bookkeeping and most of our word processing fall within his domain. Jeff has lived in Montgomery County all of his life, except for six years in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1973 with a degree in business management and then worked as assistant manager of a retail store. While in college, Jeff met Debbie, a Virginia native, who has now been his wife for 33 years. They have a daughter, four sons, a grandson, and two granddaughters. In 1975 Jeff and Debbie moved to Montgomery County, where Jeff spent about 15 years in the printing industry, running his own business for 12 years, which prepared him well for his work with Tim. |
